What is Web Design?
What is Web Design? Web Design is generally equated with the way a website (or web application) looks to the user.
A good web designer understands the purpose and goal of a web site and can create a site that engages visitors and encourages conversions (sales, newsletter sign ups, sharing on social media etc)
Traditionally a web designer would work with a web developer who handles the deep code aspects (database, java script etc). But now with the popularity and cost-effectiveness of web building platforms such as WordPress and Joomla a designer can create a complete website without the help of a developer.
Design

Design is the process of collecting ideas, and aesthetically arranging and implementing them, guided by certain principles for a specific purpose. Web design is a similar process of creation, with the intention of presenting the content on electronic web pages, which the end-users can access through the internet with the help of a web browser.
Web design uses many of the same key visual elements as all types of design such as:
Layout
This is the way the graphics, ads and text are arranged. In the web world, a key goal is to help the view find the information they seek at a glance. This includes maintaining the balance, consistency, and integrity of the design.
Examples of Header Layout:

Header Magazine

Split Menu Header

Header Block

Header Horizontal

Header Boxed Content

and much more

Colors

The choice of colors depends on the purpose and clientele; it could be simple black-and-white to multi-colored design, conveying the personality of a person or the brand of an organization, using web-safe colors.
Web safe colors are formed by the combination of red, green and blue (RGB) hex values of 0,33H, 66H, 99H, CCH, FFH. This results with 6*6*6=216 colors.
Previously browsers did not support display of more than 256 colors palette at the same time. With the new web browsers it is not necessary to use only these colors.

Color increases brand recognition, highlights important website elements and influences how people feel about a website. Different colors produce different emotions in people, so it’s important to choose the right colors. White space, contrast and good color schemes are vital elements of good web design.
